ABPI’s 42nd Congress in a hybrid and interactive format
Registration is open for ABPI’s 42nd International Congress on Intellectual Property, which will take place on August 22-23. With a hybrid, virtual and in-person format, the most prominent IP event in Latin America brings in-depth content and world-class IP and state-of-the-art access-technology experts. There will be two plenary sessions, 12 panels, and ten table topics on the most diverse issues that make up the intellectual property menu. The in-person event will take place in São Paulo, at the Sheraton São Paulo WTC, at Av. das Nações Unidas, 12559.
With the return of the in-person event, the Congress will feature intervals between presentations, such as coffee breaks and lunch, so that participants can interact and network. Virtual participants will also be able to interact online. There will also be space at the event for booths of partner companies.
In the plenary session that opens the Congress on Monday, August 22, at 9 a.m. (BRT), with ABPI’s president Gabriel Leonardos as moderator, the addressed theme will be “The BPTO’s present and future: efficiency and investments”. The following panels will address “Innovation and Society 5.0”, “Compulsory Patent Licenses in the Post-COVID World” and “IP Rights in the Metaverse”.
In the panels held after lunch, speakers will debate the “Review of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Legislation – Evolution of the work developed by the Brazilian GIPI — Interministerial Intellectual Property Group of the Ministry of Economy”, “Legal requirements and restrictions on packaging — risks and damages to Intellectual Property” and “Cybersecurity: incidents and one year of ANPD sanctions”.
At 4 p.m., after a coffee break and new interactions, the Congress makes five table topics available to attendees — spaces designed for experience exchange between debaters and congress participants — concerning the most diverse topics.
On Tuesday morning, August 23, the event continues with three other panels, two of which have already been confirmed: “Protection of Confidential Information in regulatory processes” and “Confidentiality in ADR procedures and the public interest in access to information”. In the afternoon the topics are “Judicial disputes over essential patents”, “Position marks: the results of one year of implementation by the BPTO” and “Intellectual property in communication platforms and marketplaces”. The schedule continues with five other table topics and the event closing.
Registrations can be made through the ABPI App. There are discounted fees for registrations made until June 15th.
